Dahlonega - Consolidated Gold Mine

Great place to take you family in the summer!  The mine is nice and cool. My two boys really enjoyed the tour. My wife, who doesn't like closed spaces, was comfortable while on tour. Lots of space to move around.

Start planning your visit to the largest hard rock gold mine east of the Mississippi and it’s located right here in Dahlonega, Georgia! Founded in 1896, the gold mine focused on removing gold trapped in quartz veins throughout the property.  Head 200 feet underground and over 100 years back in time to experience life as a turn of the century gold miner.  Your tour guide will demonstrate how miners blasted quartz veins to uncover huge deposits of gold.  After your underground tour, our miners will teach you how to pan for gold and you will have the chance to strike it rich.  We offer gold panning, gem mining, gem cutting and more year round and rain or shine.  So, if you are looking for things to do in Dahlonega, come out to Consolidated Gold Mines, North Georgia’s only un…

Chattahoochee National Forest

The Brodosi family started our hike from Woody's Gap. The final stop for the day was Blood Mountain.

This view-packed hike departs from Woody Gap, located just North of Dahlonega, following one of the most popular and most beautiful stretches of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. The hike catches beautiful summit views on Preachers Rock at Big Cedar Mountain and rolls through mountain ascents on meandering trail switchbacks, wandering through wildflower and fern-filled mountain gaps in the lush, mountainous Blood Mountain Wilderness. - https://www.atlantatrails.com/hiking-trails/appalachian-trail-woody-gap-big-cedar-mountain/

Woody Gap is a mountain ridge gap in northern Georgia where the Appalachian Trail crosses State Highway 60. Perched at 3,160 ft altitude, the gap affords scenic vistas of Yahoola Valley below. Named in honor of Arthur Woody, the trailhead is open to the public year-round. - Wikipedia

As the number of online course offerings expands and student retention and graduation metrics proliferate, colleges and universities are examining how to maximize student comprehension, meet the needs of a diverse student body, comply with accessibility regulations, and avoid litigation. One area of particular interest is the use of closed captioning in online course materials. The University of South Florida St. Petersburg Distance Learning Accessibility Committee and faculty contributors conducted an initial investigation to determine the benefits of providing captioned media for students with and without disabilities. Reported here are student outcome data from two online courses and the benefits of captioning f…
