So back in the late 90', early 2000's, I took a trip with my buddy Sean to Portland, Oregon.  We first arrived around 5pm and left the airport heading to visit family. I was shocked to find that the sun didn't set until almost 11pm!  The young David Brodosi didn't read this in the geography books.  So the first thing we did was head to the river to watch some native locals fish.  Because of our status, we could only watch.  I would say it was around 2am when I crawled into the bed of the truck to catch some shuteye under the stars.  To my surprise,  the sun popped up around 4:30am!  My internal clock was so messed up.  Anyway, I just wanted to share this 20-year memory with all of you.

Oregon is a coastal U.S. state in the Pacific Northwest known for its diverse landscape of forests, mountains, farms and beaches. The city of Portland is famed for its quirky, avant-garde culture and is home to iconic coffee shops, boutiques, farm-to-table restaurants and microbreweries. Highlights include the Native American art in the Portland Art Museum, the Japanese Garden and the Lan Su Chinese Garden.

Pinot Paradise is Closer Than You Think
On a lighter note, Portland is nestled in the Willamette Valley, a primarily Pinot-varietal, wine-producing region. The area may be lesser known compared to its neighboring California wine regions, but that doesn’t make visiting its vineyards any less worthy of your time. If you just have a day, plan to visit three wineries: start at Archery Summit Winery for its incredible vineyard views and high-quality Pinots, then make your way to Vista Hills Vineyard, a winery reminiscent of a mountain cabin crossed with a treehouse. Finally, head to the humble and welcoming Winter’s Hill Estate Vineyard & Winery – it’s quieter than the others, which makes their pours just a little more precious.
